Maksym Kolomiiets

(1981, Kiev)

Co-founder, artistic director, oboist and composer of Ensemble Nostri Temporis.

 

He graduated from the Kiev Lysenko Specialized Secondary Music School. At Tchaikovsky Ukrainian National Musical Academy he studied the oboe under V. Boiko, finishing in 2005, and then composition under M. Kovalinas, completing his degree in 2009.

Competition wins include the overall prize at the “Gradus ad Parnassum” National Competition (Kiev, 2000), the “Ukrainian Biennial of Contemporary Art” (Kiev, 2004), and “The Creative Youth Forum” (Kiev, 2007). He has attended the “Composing Technique” summer school (Macedonia, 2000).

Maxym’s music has been performed internationally at “Another Space” in Moscow; “Time of Music: Fin de Siecle” in Saint Petersburg; “Dialogs” in Minsk, Belarus; in Kiev at “Gogolfest”, the “Kiev Music Fest”, the International “Music of Youth” Forum, “Nabokov Days”, and the Kofmann project, “Ukrainian Avant-Garde”; and elsewhere in Ukraine at the Lviv “Contrasts”, the Odessa “Music Marine Fest”, and in wider Europe at the “Internationalen Ferienkurse für Neue Musik Darmstadt” (Germany).

Among the performers of his music are the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (Kiev, Ukraine), Kyiv Chamber Orchestra (Kiev, Ukraine), Syrinx Flute Quartet (Moscow, Russia), Ensemble Nostri Temporis (Kiev, Ukraine), GAM-Ensemble (Moscow, Russia).
